I'm working hard on some beautiful and unique Cards that will be debuting here in the next few weeks as well as scouting out some "to die for" locations. This year I will be offering Mini Sessions! I so love this couple. Just a sneak peak, as I did several of their dancing pics today. They were THE dancingest couple I've had in a long time. At the end of their reception, the DJ said, "It's been a long time since I've DJ'ed a wedding where the bride was on the dance floor for the WHOLE wedding!" She really didn't leave even once! Fun pictures to come.

I saw this today, can't even remember where, but after watching it a couple of times and laughing hysterically, I decided that I had to share it with you all. The day of their wedding it was such bad weather . . . and then suddenly, for about an hour, the clouds parted, the sun came out and it was just gorgeous! Oh this was one gorgeous wedding. Beautiful people, beautiful setting, obviously so much love for each other. Sheena was one of the most striking brides I've shot this year. I love her beautiful skin and dark hair. Tavish doesn't say much but when he does, it's pretty funny! They were really sweet to each other and to me. I love the pre wedding jitters. I think that everyone involved in a wedding kind of has them. There is just this air of OMGosh, it's really today! Vendors are bustling around and the groom is usually hulled up somewhere trying to remember how to tie his shoes. Sometimes brides are kind of stressed out, it can be a tense time, particularly if things are not going as planned, or if something has been forgotten. I arrived to shoot Sheena's pre shots and she was just so relaxi taxi. They had the radio up and it was just so nice to be around them! I had a wonderful time sharing their wedding day. As you can see, it was difficult for me to narrow down my favorites, so you just get to see lots of them I guess!

Oh and by the way, Yes, this is the bride on the trampoline. I turned around and could barely take this shot because I was laughing at her. LOVE it.

Yes people . . . I'm a mother. I have not posted for a few days because of a couple of reasons. One, I have been busy working ... for another, I have been enjoying Mother's Day with my family. It was a weird one for me this year. The kids are growing up. They aren't at my feet anymore. They don't need mom as much as they once did. It's wonderful to be at this point in life but a little bitter sweet too. I was looking them over on Sunday and I thought to myself . . . TAKE PICTURES! I am so bad about taking pictures of my own family. So today, I had a break in the action and I took them for an hour and we did some shots for the house. I wanted to update some of my wall hangings, and also I wanted to just capture them now. It's a really fun time. School is almost out. I'm looking forward to some fun with my family this summer and of course some really fun weddings as well! Enjoy the Draper kids. Oh and p.s. people ask me all the time if my kids act like theirs do when we take our own pictures. I think the photos speak for themselves. . . but yes, they act just like yours do!

I am writing this post at 7:36 in the p.m. on a Tuesday night. I have worked all day, minus a super fun lunch date with a friend and running the kiddos hither and nither all darn day. I am at this very moment PULLING myself away from the computer. I want to do more . . . I just don't have time. I have to pull dinner out of the dinner and help somebody write a poem and help somebody else find the joy in the brady bunch/little house on the prairie. Today I am so aware that I am at such a happy place in life. There is all kinds of stuff going on in and around my life, but I feel very lucky to say that I LOVE my life. This has not always been the case! I just don't understand how accountants can say the same thing! (about loving live) Numbers do not bring me joy. Jennifer you might have to help me on that one of these days! Growing up my dad always told us girls that we had to find what we love to do and then find a way to make a living at it. It was fabulous advice. It makes all the difference.

I've had so much fun with consultations this week. I really enjoy my customers. Consultations are a little job interview for me. You get to sit down and hear what someone has planned for their wedding day. At that point, we start making plans for the photography. Selecting locations based on your vision. . . it's just fun. I just LOVE the type of personalities are always drawn to me. I love the people that I work with so much. I feel truly lucky.

As I was working on some photos of one of my very favorite couples from last year I saved this picture. It just makes me laugh. This was the most darling group of groomsmen. They got married on a VERY busy day at the Salt Lake Temple. There were parties waiting to get on these stairs . . . tapping their foot probably. We did these at the end for some fun. . . and it was:) Although I think the photographer behind me was giving me a dirty look. (We were only on the stairs for 13 minutes . . . usually I stay no more than 20). Anyway, this just got me all excited about the new couples I will be working with and all that will come with that! To those of you who have booked this month . . . welcome to the Photography by Shellee team! I think it's safe to say that we've found our cheering section. oh dear.

We had an incredible time at the Ultimate Wedding Showcase on Saturday at the Dixie Center! Thank you to all of the beautiful brides that stopped by my booth. It was so fun to see so many of my past brides there! I loved getting to catch up with you all. I met some great people and had fun networking with all of my "biz" friends at their booths. We are lucky to have such a professional group of people here in the St George area to work with.

My booth was right next to my FAV company and for that I was so excited. I just love Laura Stagg and her posse (staff:) at Forevermore Events. Anyone who knows me knows that I'm a really obsessive personality, and I'm a little bit SOCIAL. That being said . . . I have a problem! I cannot stay off of facebook!

I think that a lot of people are on it but there are a lot who don't get what it is and how it works. Basically it's a social networking site. So it puts you in touch with lots of people. I like that you have to accept "friends" in order for them to see your info. I have found people from high school, elementary, college, SO so FUN. I would love to have all of my clients on facebook. It's a great way to stay in touch! So, if you're not on it . . . get on it would ya? :) If you need help, call me, I'd be happy to talk your ear off about it. . . and if I don't answer . . . it's probably because I'm tooo busy playing on facebook! This little darling baby girl has THE cutest little puppy dog eyes that I have ever seen. I loved the time I spent with her and her sweet mom. My husband and I pulled out video of our boys this past week and I was utterly shocked at how much my kids have changed. It drove home to me of all people how important it is to capture the time when children are changing because it is brief and fleeting. . . . I give you baby Kaicee. I may steal her in the night.

I just want to thank all of my 2008 clients in both the wedding and the portrait side of Photography by Shellee. Looking back, I have had such a wonderful year. I have enjoyed meeting so many of you and I am looking forward to the upcoming year and all it will bring. I'm sharing this picture of my boys from a few days ago on the "infamous st george snow day". It was one of my favorite days this year! We took this on our neighbor's lawn, because they don't have any kids and mine had trampled and thusly melted most of the snow on our yard.

I will be out of the office beginning December 24th and will not be returning until Monday, January 5th 2009. See you next year!

Raise your hand if you love thanksgiving leftovers. Ya, I think it is the mom in me that is just so thrilled to have something all ready to eat in the fridge each time you open it for several days at a time, but I LOVE the leftovers. I just had to share this yummy recipe! It's one of my favorite Thanksgiving memories growing up that my mom would make these hot turkey sandwiches. I'm a simple gal, a good sandwich cheers me . . . WHATEVER. We had these last night and even my pickiest kid loved it.

Colleen's Hot Turkey Sandwiches

Use aproximatley 2-3 cups of turkey brown meat white meat whatever works
1\3 cup mayo
1\3 cup miracle whip
1 c diced celery
2 TBSP diced onion
Sliced Cheddar Cheese
salt and pepper to taste
Hamburger Buns

This is a throw it in kind of recipe. I chop up my turkey and add celery and onions and then slowly add in the mayo/miracle whip blend until I like the consistency. This is your filling. You just take the buns and open the and fill the sandwiches and then place sliced cheese on the filling. You close the buns up and wrap them individually in tin foil and place them in the oven. 350 degrees 15-20 minutes. The filling will be heated through, the cheese melted, and the buns lightly toasted. YUM. Enjoy!

I hate posting without a photo, but I'm on vacate and that requires NO PHOTOS! Just a quick note . . . I am having a really great time with my in-laws this weekend here in St George, but it has to be said that I ate an olive this afternoon and got a tiny twinge of sadness because it reminded me of home and Thanksgivings past and I just really miss being with my family too. So to you Thomas' where ever you are. I love you and Happy Thanksgiving!!! I have to go to bed because I have to wake up to crazy shop 'till I drop in like 3 hours! Ya gotta love it baby! Hope your Thanksgiving was GRRRREAT!

i have so many fun things to share with my blog readers very soon. For right now, it's all about my clients and my new website. Yes. . . gals and pals, I am STILL working on my website. My inner perfectionist has taken over and I'm hoping that she leaves soon! I've had my hands full with families and weddings and I'll be sharing more in the coming days. I can't wait to show you my new site. It is so awesome. Wait, funny story: My 7 year old is a second grader, and they do a lot of free writing. You parents out there know how hard it is to decode sometimes. You almost have to try not to look directly at the words sometimes! I was trying to decode something with Jas (hubby) the other day and in the end we were like well DUH! The word was osum. It was AWESOME! I love kids. Which brings me to this little darling boy. Fantastic Couple, Gorgeous Wedding . . . I couldn't narrow down these images down, so sit back, relax and enjoy the wedding day of the Baldwins!

When we shot Chelsey's Bridals, her mom explained to me that I had a "lively" bride on my hands. SO TRUE. Fun just follows Chelsey.

I LOVE Southern Utah sunsets. The clouds reflect the redrocks and it is breathtaking.

The only hiccup that I saw happen at this wedding was during this moment. Mom had just finished helping the bride get dressed and they got to the veil and ooops, it got left home! So a couple of calls to a great neighbor and the ceremony was hardly even delayed as a result. Gina, the mother of of the bride is the most calm person.

have i mentioned that I adored the bridesmaids? They were either laughing or crying all night. This one she was like you're taking my picture right NOW? Love it.

One of the reasons that this was such a fun wedding is that for the ceremony, they only had immediate family as guests a couple of close friends and family in the wedding party. It had a very intimate feel.

Don Gullo is a Chef who just recently moved here with his wife and son from the New York area. Don has just written his second cookbook and hired me to shoot his cover! He and I had a hilarious conversation as we took these shots. I'm going to verify with him what his second book is called, but the first one was called "Lean on Me." It is dedicated to healthy living. When this new one comes out I will be getting one for sure, and I recommend that all of you do as well! I will let you know in the next few weeks where you can purchase it here in Utah. In the mean time, here are a couple of my favorites from the session.

Well, this is kind of weird, but I keep running across it and I just had to post it! I was shooting at the Lion House in SLC a couple of weeks back and I ran into this picture in the bathroom! Not that surprisingly, Sam won MISS DIXIE STATE! Oh my goodness. I am so very excited for her. Sam's family, a really great family, is going through some rather tragic stuff right now, and I think that this is just what the Dr. Ordered! Some EXTREME HAPPINESS! I love it. Sam has a heart of gold, an I've always said that someday her name would be written in lights. She has an amazingly mature attitude for her age, and her talent and motivation are remarkable. Sam, so so proud of you. She will be training for Miss Utah in the coming weeks. I can't wait to see what she does next!

One of the couples that I am working with right now, Brandon and Chelsey lost Brandon's dad recently, and I cannot get it out of my mind. I am not even positive of his name, so I won't post it. Chelsey's mom called me to get this shot along with everything else that I had recently shot for his funeral. I'm amazed how often that happens that I end up taking shots of someone and they pass away soon after. People really treasure those photos and I'm so happy to be able to offer some relief at such a hard time. Brandon, I'm thinkin' about you. Take Care.

I have so many people that come back to me year after year. It's a great thing and I enjoy it so so much. I love being part of watching these cute kiddies grow up, and it's just fun to be part of your lives! Meg ordered some really cool shots of this session and is planning to put them in her room. I'm going to see if she will let me take a shot of it when they are up to give everyone an idea of how it all came together! It's gonna be great.

I think that I am just one of those moms that doesn't need girls. I melt over boys. A couple of years ago, actually almost 3 years ago, one of my neighbor friends brought her little brand new baby boy over to see me one summer day in nothing but a grey onesie. I did not want to give that baby back to her. This little boy is so beautiful. He has a killer set of baby blue's. It was really a fun time!

i know, i know, I'm a bad bad blogger and I should be grounded! i think my new years resolution is going to have to repeat itself yet again. (shy smile)

I love these shots and I have been meaning to post them for over a week now but have not found the time until today. This was such a fun sitting. His mom planned to enlarge a few prints to put in his bedroom that showed his cute little personality. Some of the details like the van and skinboard are also decor from his bedroom. We ended up printing them in a warm vintage black and white that I love love love. It will really tie things together and look great!

People are always asking me what other people order, so just fyi . . . Mom ordered 3 16x20's of the first three shots. She actually ordered all of the other shots I am posting a bit smaller to give as gifts and put around in different frames. Thanks guys!

The Fabulous Wedding of Stacey and Casey is finally here for your viewing pleasure! I just love it. They were so great to work with. It was a beautiful day and we got some really awesome shots. This was one of those weddings that well. . . I started bawling behind the camera. One of my goals, as I I think I've mentioned on here before is to take some pictures of my kids once in awhile. It's so easy for a couple of years to go by and NOTHING! Anyway, it's like pulling teeth. You should hear the response when I say "Ok, boys we're going to take some pics of you". The whining can be heard from several states away. We ended up having fun though.

I ran across this shot this morning when I was doing some other things and it kind of touched me to be honest. I am always working with these young couples that are just starting out. This couple celebrated their anniversary with their family a couple of weeks back and I took a couple of shots to commemorate the event. ( I can't remember which anniversary it is exactly~!) They were just the sweetest people and they had all this family around them, and I loved it.

Ahhh another wedding that didn't get posted on my blog from the summer. Boy have I been a busy girl. This was Rob and Mandy. They are now the Fieldings . . . and of course, just like most of my couples, I'm sad to see my time with them coming to an end! Mandy was the winner last January at the Ultimate Wedding Showcase of the Free Wedding!!!!!! She hit the jackpot if I do say so myself. Mandy and I had another fun shoot that I am not releasing at this time. . . do you feel the suspense building? Ya me too. Anyway, for now, here is their wedding day all blogged and ready to go.
